About Author

Bassist and session musician Leland Sklar rose to prominence in the 70s as a member of James Taylor’s backing band. He has also recorded and toured with Jackson Browne, Carole King, Linda Ronstadt, Phil Collins, Toto, The Doors, and Lyle Lovett. Sklar has appeared on over 2,000 albums, and has contributed to many motion picture and television soundtracks, making him one of the most heard bassists in history! He was also a member of band The Section (along with guitarist Danny “Kootch” Kortchmar, keyboardist Craig Doerge, and drummer Russ Kunkel, and other featured musicians such as multi-instrumentalist David Lindley and guitarist Waddy Wachtel). This group backed many of the artists who became the iconic singer-songwriters of the 1970s. Since 2018, he has been the bassist for The Immediate Family, a group reuniting lifelong friends and most of his former bandmates from The Section.

A delightful trip into a world few get to experience… Once upon a time, prior to Covid, there existed a professional music culture founded on the premise of high morality and mutual respect. Then Leland Sklar came along. Legendary in his musical prowess, his discography reads like a who’s who of the entertainment industry. For some very strange reason, Lee delighted in photographing people giving him the, um, middle finger. This book is a collection of those photos, which I found to be amazingly compelling. For full disclosure, both myself and my daughter happen to make an appearance in this tome. But that withstanding, the book serves as a narrative to both a life well spent, and a distinctive sense of humor. And yeah, I love seeing my (then) 4 year old throwing Lee the bird 🙂

Best Coffee Table Book since Kramers CT book with legs. Packaging was absolutely superior to just about everything I’ve received lately. The book itself is of the highest quality too. Well done Mr. Sklar!

Can’t Quite Put My Finger on It. Impulse buy. Wish Leland had indexed it. Kinda like buying someone else’s photo album, but more expensive than a flea market find.

I love Leland, but I’m waiting for the Audible version. I am constantly checking to see when the Audible version will be released. I’ve become so used to having books read to me, and it’s just so convenient – especially with the amount of time I spend commuting each day. I hope the Audible version will be out soon.
